Sentiment vs. sensation
In French, sentiment and sensation can both translate to feeling, but they are not interchangeable. The key difference lies in the source of the feeling: sentiment originates from the mind and emotions, while sensation originates from the body and physical senses.
Sentiment
B1A sentiment is an emotional or psychological state. It is a feeling that comes from the heart or mind, often complex and developed over time, such as love, sadness, jealousy, or gratitude. It can also describe an intuition or an opinion about something.
Un grand sentiment de joie l'a envahi quand il a appris la nouvelle.

(I have a feeling that we are making a mistake.)
Le sentiment de nostalgie est souvent doux et triste à la fois.
(The feeling of nostalgia is often sweet and sad at the same time.)
Sensation
A2A sensation is a physical experience perceived through the five senses. It is an immediate, direct impression caused by an external stimulus, such as heat, cold, touch, or pain. It can also describe a general physical impression or a major public success.
En touchant la glace, j'ai eu une sensation de froid intense.
(By touching the ice, I had an intense cold sensation.)

Summary
To summarize, a sentiment is a feeling of the mind or heart (an emotion, an opinion). A sensation is a feeling of the body (a physical perception from the senses). Think of it this way: you feel a sentiment of love for someone, but a sensation of warmth when they hold your hand.
